It’s time to elect a Mayor who has the leadership skills and “outside of the box” thinking to tackle the homeless problem.
Anchorage residents are ready for us to act. Recently a number of our citizens came together to propose a Call to Action that gets to the heart of this issue. Like them, I’m ready to address these issues in a comprehensive and effective manner.

Homelessness Response/Action Team
On Day One, I will create a Homelessness Response/Action Team, composed of policy experts, community advocates, funders, law enforcement, emergency responders, medical providers, and those experiencing homelessness.
Individualized Living Plans
We will create Individualized Living Plans (ILP) for each homeless person after evaluating their needs in terms of housing, addiction treatment programs, mental and physical health care, job search and training, and any other services.

We must remove the red tape to effectively and efficiently address our affordable housing crisis and lack of treatment facilities.

I will work with the Anchorage Assembly, legislators, and the governor to build more in-patient and out-patient treatment facilities.
Affordable Housing Construction
I will present the Assembly with a comprehensive list of recommended reforms that will maintain the integrity of regulations while expediting the process to encourage new affordable housing construction.
Converting Existing Property
We must provide tangible incentives for new construction and the conversion of existing properties into mixed use and high-density residential properties.
Funding for Programs
I will fiercely advocate with federal, state and other entities to secure funds for existing programs, to jumpstart new initiatives, and take advantage of new opportunities and initiatives to address our challenges.
Rebuild Trust & Encourage Collaboration
I will rebuild trust in our government to get things done. We need a mayor who provides strong independent leadership and works to partner with the Assembly rather than oppose it simply to oppose it.
Tangible Assistance
Finally, as your Mayor, I will work with our Assembly and Community Councils to provide tangible assistance to the neighborhoods that have borne the brunt of our city’s failed attempts at reducing our homeless populations.

My plan will bring all stakeholders together to implement effective programs that will help move our homeless from the streets to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible. I will expedite and incentivize the construction and conversion of new, affordable housing. We will create individualized plans to assess and address each person's needs.
As mayor, I will end the division and finger-pointing of the last three years. Our community needs to agree on and implement a comprehensive and far-reaching plan that truly addresses this crisis for as many as possible.

Goals
Each issue will have clear, measurable goals and benchmarks.
Roadmap
A roadmap to address each issue, with specific examples and initiatives needed to achieve the goals.
Stakeholders
A recognition and invitation for all stakeholders* to participate in the planning and execution of the solutions.
*These groups include the Mayor’s Office, the Anchorage Assembly, Municipal government, state and federal government, business leaders, faith-based and nonprofit groups, community councils, civic groups and any other stakeholders.
